Mailbag - Questions needed

I'd like to try out a mailbag post here in the near future, but I need additional questions.  Post a question in the comments - anything Armada or Star Wars related is fair game.  I'll write up the answers and publish them all in one post.

Thanks!

  2. Hi,
In which case do start à game with your fleet's ships close together and in which case do you prefer to have ships not grouped.

  3. How do I fly the Arquitens? I know the community has been loving it, but mine rarely gets to attack anything. Even at max speed, it seems to be always out of range, sweeping around the edges. So far, it's been 70 points of dead weight in my Corellian Conflict fleet, and I think it's really spoiling my chances in a lot of battles.

    1. Speed 3 is in my experience usually too much except for perhaps on the first turn. 2 is a nice compromise as it allows you to start on the flanks and then swing around to the rear later on. The main issue the Arquitens faces is its unique nav chart (with the only clicks at the very end), so being misaligned to the enemy fleet will, without Nav commands, often take you out of the fight and require a turn or two to correct, if it's even possible to fix.

With that said, I'd start it nearly perpendicular to the enemy but facing inwards a bit so that last-joint turn can set you up for a tighter rotation. Don't neglect to issue Nav commands with some regularity or run it with Jerrjerrod to achieve a much tighter turn.

I'm sure shmitty can do a fine job of answering that question for himself, though, but that's been my experience with the Arquitens anyways.

  5. Do accuracies work against squadron defense tokens? It seems so from the rulebook but they never really mention that scenario.

    1. They do. Otherwise those squadrons with scatter would be even worse.
