Over the last couple of days FFG has spoiled the contents of the Wave 4 expansions, the Interdictor and the Liberty. This is to help people enter their new Fleet Design Contest. I thought I would post up some quick reactions to the spoilers before I actually sit down and work on getting my fleet submitted.

Wrapping Up the Regionals Data
For the past couple of months I have been compiling and comparing results from the various Armada Regional tournaments. This last weekend marked the end of the Regionals season in the USA and it seemed like a good time to look back and see what, if anything, I learned from all of this.

Something Different - A Dropzone Commaner AAR
Occasionally, I play miniature games other than Star Wars: Armada.
Crazy right? Well, this weekend was one of those occasions as my buddy Dave brought over his Scourge and we got in a game of Dropzone Commander (DzC) by Hawk Wargames.
So, why am I writing about a game of Dropzone on my Armada blog? Well, the two systems actually have a bit in common and I think fans of Armada would enjoy the gameplay of Dropzone quite a bit.

Armada Promos - Keep 'em or Sell 'em
Over the weekend I actually played in an Imperial Assault Regional at the FLGS. It was a smaller tournament with 10 players, but still the largest IA event that I had played in. I did decidedly okay, finishing 2-2. That was good enough for the Top 8 and a set of translucent dice. Pretty cool, I thought. If you aren't familiar with IA, there are 6 colors of dice in the game. I won promo versions of the green and white dice. Apparently, they gave out blue and black dice last year. So, I went to eBay to see what a set of blue and black dice would run me. There weren't many for sale, but they were about $40-$50 for a pair. Not surprising really. What was surprising was that the dice that I had just won were going for the same amount. So, now what?
Revsing my regionals fleet
I managed to take 4th place at the Tacoma, WA Armada Regional. I didn't know until the day before the tournament that I would be able to attend, so I took a list that was new to me. It was a list that I had been theorizing on for the North American Championships at GenCon. The tournament seemed like a great chance to test the list in a competitive environment.

Who else is excited about wave 4!?
I was out of town when the Wave 4 announcement hit so I haven't had a chance to talk about it yet. While the Wave 3 flotillas were fun and will no doubt have a huge impact on game play, they aren't what you would call eye catching models.
Wave 4 does not have that problem. The Liberty and Interdictor are two of the most anticipated models in Armada. Both look great and I can't wait to get my hands on them. Here's hoping for a GenCon release!
