Corellian Conflict - Turn 1

With everything setup it was time for the Rebels to launch their campaign to free the Corellian Sector from Imperial control.  Let's see how the opening moves went.

Attacks

With the campaign starting at a 0-0 tie, the Rebels had the first chance to launch an attack.  We opted to have the Mon Mothma led fleet go on a Supply Raid at Raider's Point (seemed appropriate).  Vader himself was leading the fleet to be raided.

Sensing the unrest in the sector, Admiral Ozzel went out to Polanis on a Show of Force.  Garm bel Iblis mustered his fleet to their defense.

Admiral Ackbar then launched what he hoped would be a decisive early attack on the Corellian system itself.  Moff Jerjerrod, who was apprently the local Imperial governor, led the defense of the system using its Armed Station.

Battle Results

Mon Mothma had a totally disastrous outing in attacking Vader's fleet for supplies.  The Rebel fleet scored no kills of ships or squadrons while losing nearly everything in return.  The Imperials were able to secure an extra 40 Resource Points with their victory at Raider's Point and Vader even established a new base there to assure no further raids would be launched in that system.

Ozzel's attack on Polanis got off to a poor start with his Interdictor getting blown out from under him by the Liberty.  Garm's squadrons were left out of position at this point and unable to really threaten the ISD or Gladiator who were able to kill both stations.  (There was a deployment error on the Rebel player's part that left the stations too close together.)  By taking out both stations the Imperials were able to secure the full resources of the scenario obtaining 120 Resource Points with the victory and establishing a new base in Polanis.

Ackbar's attack on the Corellian system took place near the Armed Station guarding it.  (we hadn't yet seen that the ship and squadron dice were reversed)  Ackbar's battle line was able to kill the VSD and the Arquitens while losing the Salvation in return.  Both sides had been conservative with their squadrons, but the damage spreading of Biggs meant that the Rebels won the day there too.  It was enough for a Rebel victory and the destroyed the Imperial Base on Corellia and established their own Presence in the system.

Campaign Score

Rebels 2 - Imperials 0

With the capture of Corellia and the gain of 2 campaign points it seemed like a good round for the Rebels.  Unfortunately, the bad losses in both of the Special Assaults gave the Imperials a huge advantage in resources.  The Rebels also had significantly more repairs to be mad after this round.  So, while they have the lead, it likely won't be for long.

  1. I thought you're only allowed one upgrade per ship?

    1. That's only for the first match. After that you can spend Resource Points on new upgrades.

It isn't clear enough above, but those are the fleets after spending resources earned in the first round.

  2. Bold move striking for Corellia. I like it. Although those resources have given the Empire a pretty strong set of fleets now!

    1. It seemed like a fun opening to go for the center. We did play the station reversed, but it still had a big impact on the game. That extra activation for the defender can be huge.
